Clinical Counseling

» Therapy Services

Therapy services are provided to assist students who are experiencing things like: anxiety, depression, academic concerns, relationship issues, stress, minority stress or marginalization, identity development, sexual violence, adjustment to university life, family conflict, grief, organization and time management challenges, trauma, and more.  Most students meet individually for 45-minute appointments with the counselors.  If there is a request from students, counselors will offer group counseling.

Students interested in using our services should visit our Online Scheduling Page for information. You will meet with a counselor to determine your concerns and the best plan to meet your goals.

Appointments are offered Monday – Friday between 9am-5pm.

Due to the demand for services, we cannot guarantee that students can receive frequent and regular (i.e. weekly or biweekly appointments). In some cases, we may suggest and help students find counselors outside of the university to better meet their needs.

Please note that our office is unable to prescribe medication and cannot provide testing and documentation for accommodations or emotional support animals. We will refer students to outside providers if these services are requested.

» Educational Programming and Workshops

Please contact our office at clinicalcounseling@moldeparaempanadas.com if you would like our staff to provide training or information about a mental health related topic. Staff is also available to give a short presentation about Clinical Counseling Services to your class or student organization.

» Consultation

Lawrence Tech faculty, staff, students and parents who have concerns about a student are encouraged to contact us. The clinicians are available to listen and can help develop a plan to assist the student of concern. The counselors follow confidentiality laws and cannot disclose whether a student is currently in treatment.

» Referrals

At times, a referral to an off-campus provider best serves the student’s mental health needs.  We have partnered with Mi Resource to provide a listing of local clinicians.  Students may access this list on their own or after speaking with one of our staff.

Learn more about:

Motorist Assistance

The 利记sbo Campus Safety Department provides assistance for jump-starting a vehicle in the form of self-contained car battery quick-chargers. This service is not limited to members of the 利记sbo community; however, it is limited to vehicles parked in the campus parking lots only. Please note that the Campus Safety Department does not allow the use of its vehicles to assist with jump-starting another vehicle. In the event the quick-charger fails to jump-start a vehicle, the Campus Safety Department will provide the phone number to Quality Towing. The use of Quality Towing’s roadside assistance services is at the vehicle operator’s expense.

To request Motorist Assistance:

  • Contact the Campus Safety Department at 248.204.3945.
  • When requested, provide the dispatcher with your full name, a phone number you can be reached at, and the location of your vehicle.
  • Stand beside your vehicle and raise its hood to assist the responding Safety Officer with locating you and your vehicle.
  • Provide picture identification to the responding Safety Officer.

Please allow extra time in the event of a delayed response. Note that Campus Safety does not open locked vehicles or change tires.

Parking Lot Registration

The guidelines for requesting reserve parking are as follows:

Requests must be submitted through 25Live at least one week prior to the reservation date. Any reservations submitted less than a week prior will automatically be denied unless they involve extenuating circumstances (i.e. the Governor is coming for a last minute visit).

Requests must be submitted by an 利记sbo faculty or staff member. Students are not able to request reservations; they must have their faculty/staff representative or the Office of Student Life submit the request on their behalf. Any requests submitted by students will automatically be denied.

Parking lot requests must meet one of the following in order to be considered:

Academic Necessity (i.e. outdoor lab testing, Formula 1 testing/competing, Blue Devil Motorsports)
Large Scale Events (i.e. Commencement, Convocation, DECA, Greek Day, Football games)
Weekend Event (During the week when classes are in session, parking lots can only be reserved for an Enrollment/Admissions event or a VIP event)
If a request meets the criteria above, it will be sent for final approval. If approval is granted, the reservation will be completed and sent to Campus Safety to ensure the parking lot is blocked off for the event.

Note: Parking lot requests for small events, conference/group meetings, etc. will not be approved unless an exception has been provided.

Safety Escort

The 利记sbo Campus Safety Department provides a safety escort service from 利记sbo buildings to campus parking lots. Escorts are performed on foot, bicycle, or vehicle at the responding Safety Officer’s discretion. This service is not limited to members of the 利记sbo community. Anyone who feels unsafe while on 利记sbo’s campus may request an Escort. To request a Safety Escort:

  • Contact the Campus Safety Department at 248.204.3945.
  • When requested, provide the dispatcher with your full name, location, a phone number you can be reached at, and the location of your vehicle.
  • Present picture identification to the responding Safety Officer.

Please allow extra time in the event of a delayed response.

Lost and Found

The 利记sbo Campus Safety Department operates the lost and found service for the campus. With the exception of laptops, which are turned into the Help Desk, all items found on the campus are turned into Campus Safety where they are recorded for lost and found. It is the responsibility of the owner to contact Campus Safety regarding a lost item, as well as to retrieve an item. If an item can be determined as belonging to a specific member of the 利记sbo community, Campus Safety will contact the owner via email.

Turn in an item to lost and found:

  • To turn in an item to lost and found, contact the Campus Safety Department at 248.204.3945. You may remain anonymous, but you will need to provide your location. Afterward, a Safety Officer will be dispatched to your location to retrieve the item.

Retrieve an item from lost and found:

  • To retrieve an item from lost and found, contact the Campus Safety Office at 248.204.3945 to confirm first that the item is in lost and found. Once you have confirmed that your item is in lost and found, you will need to come to the Campus Safety Office in the General Services Building (#G102) to retrieve the item. Please be aware that you will need to provide picture identification and a phone number you can be reached at in the event of a discrepancy regarding the item. It is for this reason that Campus Safety does not deliver items from lost and found. Anyone seeking to claim an item from lost and found must come to the Campus Safety Office.

Lost and found is available 24/7 and located in the Campus Safety Office inside of the General Services Building (#G102). Please feel free to call or stop by at any time.

Parking Permits

Every member of the 利记sbo community must register their vehicles and display an 利记sbo Parking Permit to park on 利记sbo’s campus. This system was put in place to insure that students, staff, and faculty have adequate parking at the campus and that the lots are used by authorized personnel only.

Any member of the 利记sbo community who parks an unregistered vehicle on 利记sbo’s campus may receive an 利记sbo Violation Notice. There is no charge for the Parking Permit. To obtain a Parking Permit, visit the Campus Safety Department’s office, which is located in room G102 in the General Services Building (building seventeen [17] on the campus map). Make sure to bring the following information:

  • A valid driver’s license
  • A valid vehicle registration
  • Banner ID card

After receiving a Parking Permit, it must be displayed in the lower, passenger corner of the front windshield of the vehicle registered. Multiple vehicles may be registered, but each one requires a separate Parking Permit.
